| Directions: | From Dunstable town centre, head north up the A5. After about a mile, turn right at the traffic lights into Houghton Road. After about half a mile, turn left at traffic lights into Lake View. Continue along Lake View, where you may find parking in laybys on the left, or carry on past the playground on the left, and turn left into Fieldstone, where you may find more parking. Follow the right-hand bend in Fieldstone, and the gates to Houghton Pit are at the end on the left.
Do not follow the public footpath that leaves from the corner of Fieldstone.
Note that Lake View is a new estate, which is not yet on some maps.
